The Green River Community Collaboration for Children is hosting a free training event April 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the Community Center (Entrance E) of Owensboro Christian Church.  Individuals can register for the free training by calling or emailing Libby Watson (270-852-1338 | [email protected]) by April 25, 2022.

The training has been titled Coming Back Stronger and will feature nationally recognized authors and speakers, Jenna Quinn and Erin Ramsey.

Jenna’s Law Passed unanimously in Texas in 2009 and was the first comprehensive child sexual abuse prevention education mandate in the U.S requiring K-12 sexual abuse prevention for students, school staff, and caregivers.  As a survivor and tireless advocate, Ms. Quinn will bring both an educational and inspirational message to empower attendees to advocate on behalf of children in their communities.

Erin Ramsey will help participants pave a positive path forward, removing roadblocks and encouraging rejuvenation to access joy.

“Having the tools and education to recognize and ultimately prevent child abuse in all forms is of highest importance for both professionals and parents/caregivers.  Yet, the responsibility of protecting children can be overwhelming.  When planning this year’s Child Abuse Prevention Month Training, the committee wanted focus not only on an important topic of child abuse prevention, but also on the importance of self-care to allow professionals and parents to be at their best,” states Kristy James, Community Collaboration for Children Regional Coordinator.

The training is free and open to all.  A light breakfast will be provided, with participants having the opportunity to explore their own lunch options in Owensboro.

Funding for this training is in whole or in part from federal, Cabinet for Health and Family Services, or other state funds.
